The Packers brought the Lombardi Trophy back to Titletown yesterday as the Green Bay Packers defeated the San Diego Chargers 34-3. Brett Favre was the game MVP completing 25-33-277 yards 2 TDs and 1 Int. Antonio Freeman and Keith Jackson were the playmakers as Freeman caught six passes for 90 yards and Jackson hauled in two TD passes.
The entire defense also earned a game ball. The Packers defense held the Chargers to only 3 points. They forced four interceptions three of which came in the first half to give the Packers a commanding 27-0 halftime lead. With the Chargers using a 2 RB set instead of their usual 2 TE offense, the Packers could easily focus on stopping Charger wide receiver Tony Martin. The Packer strategy worked to perfection as they doubled Martin all day long allowing him only 5 catches out of 19 attempts for 49 yards. Humphries had a poor day completing 23 of 53 for 244 yards and 4 INTs. Without the use of the 2 TE offense, the Chargers could only muster 33 yards on the ground.
A big thanks to Andrew for filling in for SD in the playoffs and his improbable upset victories over some very tough AFC teams.
