Atlanta 34 San Diego 28 OT

Atlanta, getting healthy after a bye week, host San Diego.  The Falcons come out
Andre Rison
raring to go and take opening drive to the house. San Diego comes right back and go 86 yards on a 7;30 minute opening TD drive and after 1 it is 7-7.  After both teams punt, Atlanta facing a 3rd and 10 from their own 8 show why they are a dangerous Offense.  George hits Rison on a quick slant and Rison explodes for 81 yards to the SD 11 before being pushed out. George then finds Mathis in the end zone and Atlanta goes up 14-7. SD seems to be driving right back but Matthews strip sacks Humphries and Atlanta recovers on SD 47. George, playing as good George, leads the team down for another TD this time hitting Sanders from 11 out, and at half Atlanta leads 21-7.

San Diego takes 3rd Q opening drive to mid field then punts and traps Atlanta at their 4 yard line. Atlanta goes 96 yards on 11 plays, the big play a 40 yard screen pass to Heyward, to take a seemingly insurmountable 28-7 lead. As the 3rd quarter winds down the game changes on 2 long Humphries' passes. First he hits Jefferson for 23, then on the very next play tosses a 42 yard TD bomb to Martin and after 3 , it is 28-14.  The 4th Quarter is ALL San Diego. SD has a long drive stall on a 4th down, but score a quick Defensive TD as George(bad George in 4th Q) is strip sacked and the fumble is returned all the way to the house and SD is suddenly within 7. Atlanta then  punts it right back.  Humphries quickly hits TE Mitchell for a huge 43 yard gain, and 3 plays later tosses a TD strike to Jefferson and we are TIED at 28 with just under 3 to go! Atlanta has a drive stall and punts to SD who also stall and we head to OT.
Atlanta gets the ball to start OT. Atlanta starts from the 11. They move down to their 48 on crisp short passes, when disaster appears to strike..on 1st down SD blitzes 3 and Whitfield (All-Pro) commits his 3rd hold of the game.  Then just as quickly the game ends as George hits Rison on a medium cross and Rison will not be caught and goes 62 yards for the victory!
Final: Atlanta 34-28 in OT

Pittsburgh 31 Arizona 13

The Steelers came into the Desert having won 6 in a row while the Cardinals had lost 5 in the row... The trend continues .
This game was close throughout . 10-7 Steelers at the half 10-10 after 3 .... Then all hell broke lose in the 4th for the home team
as O'Donnell threw 3 4th quarter touchdowns . The turning point came with 8:40 left in the game ,The Steelers had the ball on their own 21.... Arenas Williams jumped a short slant and had what appeared to be his 6th pick of the year in what would have been a huge turnover in a 17-13 game unfortunately for the home team Starting Safety Terry Hoage decided to inflict some pain but was a little to rough and was called for a 15 yard roughing penalty which nullified the turnover . The Steelers drive down the field put 7 more on the board and close out with another a few minutes later to win the game 31-13.

Pittsburgh 41 NY Giants 7

Barry Foster
Even with no Neil O"Donnell, Mike Tomczak had no trouble carving up the reeling New York Giants. Tomczak threw for 255 yards and 3 scores and Barry Foster ran for 113 and another score and the Steelers roughed up the Giants 41-7. New York turned the ball over four times in the first half, all turnovers leading to Pittsburgh touchdowns.

San Francisco 27 Tampa Bay 17

49ers were handed a tough game and were showing RUN = F and Pass = D most
Dana Stubblefield
of the game with Dana Stubblefield playing OT, Yikes! Good effort from Tony to scare the 49ers straight.

Atlanta 31 LA Raiders 14

Jeff George redeems himself after last weeks brutal performance, and leads his visiting Falcons to a
Andre Rison
big road win.  Atlanta jumped out early scoring 2 TD's , but LA came charging back and tied it at 14 late in 2nd Q. The key point may have been right after as Atlanta took over on their 20 with just over 2:30 in half. Atlanta went 74 yards to LA 6 and with the half expiring kicked a FG for a 3 point lead. Atlanta like in 1st half would score TD's on their opening 2 2nd half drives and salt away a 31-14 win.
George was 30 of 37 for 385 yards and 4 TD's. Mathis and Rison also had huge games, Mathis 12 for 176, 2TD's and Rison 9 for 111, 1 TD. They would have to be as Atlanta could not run the ball at all...and mid way through 4th lost Heywood and had NO running backs.  The Raidas were led by harvey Williams 18 rushes for 90 yards.

San Francisco 42 Atlanta 17

This was a rough one for the hometown fans. Atlanta got mauled in every aspect of
Steve Young & Jerry Rice
the game.  Including 3 penalties on kick returns, 3 fumbles and 3 picks, including and most hurtful a 46 yard INT, pick 6 by former Falcon Deion Sanders! .  San Fran was completely unstoppable on offense and never punted in the game.  Young was nearly perfect going 15/20, 242 yards 3 TD's (154.6 passer rtg..think that is perfect), Jerry Rice was on fire 7 out of 7 passes caught for 132 yards and a TD.  For Atlanta George was brutal esp. after 3 of his first 5 passes were picked, overall he was 20/33, 221 yds, 2 TD's , 3 INT, 3 sacks and a lost fumble!

Total 49er domination in this one going up 28-0 early 2nd and never looking back.

New Orleans 42 San Diego 38

It was a shootout in the Superdome as the 5 -0 Chargers marched into the Big Easy to
Torrance Small
face the 5 - 1 Saints. A total of 80 points were scored, 9 turnovers, 755 yds of Offense and the lead would change hands 8 times before a winner would be declaired. Charger QB Stan Humphries completed 22 of 36 passes for 331 yds 4 TDs but the killer 5 INTs. While, Saints QB Jim Everett completed 27 of 43 passes for 322 yds 4 TDs and 2 Ints. The Chargers started the scoring with a 2 yd run by RB Natrone Means, two plays later the Saints tied it 7 - 7 on a 59 yd TD pass from Jim Everett to WR Micheal Haynes. The Chargers then march to the Saints 19 yradline and was forced to kick a FG, Chargers 10 - Saints 7 at the end of the 1st Qtr.  The Saints in the 2nd Qtr marched 58 yds and scored to take the lead 14 - 10 on a 28 yd TD pass from Jim Everett to TE Wesley Walls. Then, o
n the Chargers next possession Saints CB Sean Lumpkin Intercepted a Stan Humhries pass to setup the Saints on the Charger 47 yard line  where the Saints QB Jim Everett took advantage  by marching the Saints 47 YDs to a TD, a 3 yd pass to Micheal Haynes ( his second of the day). Saints 21 - Chargers 10 at the break. In the 3rd the Chargers and QB Stan Humphries stormed back with 2 unanswered TD passes, one 8 yarder to WR Shawn Jefferson and a 12 yarder to WR Tony Martin to take the lead 24 - 21. However, the Saints march back 67 yds in 11 plays to score on a 2 yd run by RB Mario Bates and reclaim the lead 28 - 24 at the end of the 3rd Qtr.  In the 4th Qtr, Charger QB Stan Humphries and Saint QB Jim Everett would exchange TD Passes 2 each. The final TD pass in this shootout would come from Saint QB Jim Everett for the win. Late in the 4th Qtr the Saints got the ball first and 10 on their own 39 yardline with 2:31 left in the game, trailing 38 - 35. The Saints marched to the Charger 8 yardline where they had a 3rd and Goal with 4 second left in regulation. QB Jim Everett then Hit WR Torrance Small on the short slant for 8 yds and the win. It was a great game and a big win for the Saints. Next week the Saints play the Rams at home and the Chargers go home to face the Broncos.

Pittsburgh 26 Cincinnati 0

The Steelers Improved to 5 - 1  with a 26 - 0 win over the Bengals in Three Rivers.
The Steeler Offense controlled the ball and the Steel Defense kept the Bengals Offense from ever getting on track. Next week the Steelers play the Giants in the Meadowlands and the Bengals travel to the city of brotherly love to play the Eagles.

Atlanta 26 Tampa Bay 14

A very entertaining game, filled with long passes bad throws and lots of turnovers!  This one started off like a slug fest as both teams went back and forth scoring 2 TD's each on 4 consecutive drives! Then both defenses dug in and neither team would reach the end zone again.  Thankfully for Atlanta Norm Johnson was 4 for4 on Field Goals and that would be the difference. In the end Atlanta (down to 1 RB and No tight ends) manage to hold off the orange clad Bucos 26-14!
Tony is a great person to play with, once again win or lose this league is amazingly enjoyable!  Cheers Tony!

LA Raiders 20 New England 24

New England wins an evenly played game 24-20 as Bledsoe goes 27 of 38 for 270 yards, 3 TD's and No Int. Ben 'Winter"Coates and Vincent "the ultimate" Brisby each haul in 9 passes.  Hostetler was also in fine form going 22 of 36 for 286 yards with 2 TD's and 1Int.  Tim Brown was unstoppable hauling in 7 passes for 170 yards!  Another entertaining "94" season game!

Denver 38 Seattle 34

The Seahawks hosted the Broncos in battle of 1-win teams. Defense was (to say the least) not prominently featured. The lead shifted back and forth throughout the game, with the Seahawks generating 529 yards total offense. Denver scored a touchdown to go up 38-34 with 3:30 left in the game, and the Broncos coach knew that was too much time. Sure enough, Seattle drove down the field with a smart mixture of runs and passes. The game basically ended when a Rick Mirer pass misfired on 4th and 2 with 8 seconds left from  the Denver 10.

Great game called by Steve. Chris Warren gained 229 yards with 2 tis and Rick Mirer and John Elway both averaged over 10 yards a pass for most of the game.

Atlanta 30 Washington 19

Jeff George
Another entertaining game that saw about it all.  Atlanta seemed in control early up 10-0 after 2 drives , but on 3rd drive George is picked and ball returned to Atlanta 3.  At 10-7, Atlanta again looks ready to score when George losses a fumble. 2 plays later Johnson steps in front of Ellard and goes 11 yards for the pick 6.  Then at end of half , vs the prevent Friesz, replacing Shuler hits Ellard for 80 yards and with 2 sec still on clovk kick a FG to cut lead to 7.
Each team took long scoring Field goal drives to account for entire 3rd and part of 4th Q. Atlanta would then go on a 7 minute scoring drive to go up 10...and hold on after another frenetic 5 minutes.  Definately a fun game.
Atlanta wins 30-19
Thanks again to Bruce Thomas for subbing.

Kansas City 38 Atlanta 35

Joe Montana and the Chiefs win
their first game of the season.
A shootout at the Georgia Dome!  This was an aerial assault all the way, with both teams going to the air , Montana 27 of 37, 287 yards, 3 TD and 1 int, and George 31 of 45 353 yards , 4TDs and 1 int. The difference very well might have been a 93 yard KO return from Dickerson (long of 64), which at that point led to a KC TD and a 14-7 lead.  just another fun game with KC totaling 350 net yards and Atlanta 452.
Both teams are now 1-2 for the season.
Thanks Celo for a fun game!

Pittsburgh 28 Cleveland 18

Great game for both teams and coaches. Slow but steady start as Pitts was ahead 7-3 at half. Brown went ahead 10-7 then a H broke loose. Pitts ran back a 40 yard Clev. fumble for a TD and jumped to what seemed to be a safe 21-10 lead at the 4min mark. Clev. recovered a Pitts handoff and struck quickly for 6 points. Score was then 21-16  Brown went for the 2 pts and won the bet. At 21-18 it was a one posession game and at 3min left the Browns recovered an onsides kick. Brown were at mid field and Clev QB was stripped of ball and Pitts went another 40 return of the final 28-18 score     great game

LA Rams 19 Atlanta 38

Game got off to a very hairy start for the Falcons, as a hold on a punt put them on their own 6 on opening drive, and after another hold later , george got sacked in the end zone by Roman Phifer and LA was up 2-0. LA then took the punt and quickly marched down field as bettis scored from 8 yards out for a 9-0 lead.  Could it get worse...YES, Jeff george is picked on the very next posession, and it looks like a nightmare unfolding. Atlanta's D finally starts to play and get ball back with no damage.  Finally, jeff george and the O begin to find a groove and march down the field and put 7 up on a George to Mathis pass. Chris Miller then gets picked and all MO goes to Atlanta, Ironhead goes in from 5yards out and Atlanta suddenly leads by 5. LA drives the ball but misses on a FG . George comes right back and hits Rison on a 21 yard slant just inside 2 minutes, and Atlanta takes a 21-12 halftime lead.
LA tries an onside kick but Atlanta recovers and gets 3 on the drive.  George and Atlanta are driving again with a nice lead when the BONEHEAD (George) throws a horrible pass and it is picked by Pope and returned all the way to Atl. 20, Miller hits Hester and it is once again a 5 point game. In the early 4th on 3rd and 3, George goes deep to Rison and connects on a 55 yard TD, and Atlanta fans begin to relax. On the next posession George hits Mathis for 19 yard TD pass, and Atlanta wins 38-19.

Los Angeles 2 interceptions helped Arizona in the loss as the Cards had twice as many first downs and time of posession.

Kansas City 24 New Orleans 27

AP: New Orleans
Kansas City came back with two touchdowns to take a 24-20 lead early in the 4th Quarter but a Jim Everett 17 yard TD pass to WR Michael Haynes with just over 3 minutes helped the Saints to a win against Joe Montana's Chiefs.  Marcus Allen rushed for 133 yards but 3 turnovers cost the Chiefs a win.

Seattle took the opening drive on a 15 play 74 yard drive that took 8:02 off the clock and scored on Warrens 2 yard run. The drive was aided by a 15 yard roughing the kicker penalty. A Heath Shuler to Henry Ellard for 91 yard touchdown kept Washington in the game but did not score after. Rick Mirer was effective in 12-15 and 171 yards for the Seahawks.

SUPER BOWL XXVIII

(AP) Wild shoot out at the Georgia Dome

Super Bowl XXVIII set records for both total points and yardage and was not decided until the final seconds.

Jerry Jones and Jimmy Johnson celebrate Super Bowl
victory over Denver.
Super Bowl XXVIII could not have started out worse for the defending champion Cowboys. After going three and out on their first poession, John Elway hit Shannon Sharpe for 60 yards to the Dallas 7. Two plays later Reggie Rivers crashed over from the one to give Denver a 7-0 lead. Moments later Kevin Williams fumbled the ensuing kickoff giving the Broncos a first and 10 at the Dallas 21. After driving to the Cowboy 13, Elway misfired on a pass to Delpino. Jason Elam's 30 yard field goal was good and the Broncos had a 10-0 lead before some fans were in their seats. On the Dallas sidelines Jimmy Johnson was not pleased.

The Cowboys first quarter troubles continued. After driving 66 yards to the Bronco four yard line Emmitt Smith fumbled and the Broncos recovered. The Broncos were unable to move the ball and Dallas took over on the Bronco 49. On the first play of their next possession Aikman's pass for Irwin was picked off by Braxton and returned to the Dallas 48. In just under ten minutes the normally sure handed Cowboys has committed three turnovers.
After trading punts the Broncos offense got moving again and marched into Dallas territory. Facing a 4th and 1 at the Cowboys 41, Denver gambled and went for it.  Elway'saudibled at the line but his pass to Russell was batted away by Kevin Smith and the Cowboys dodged a bullet. It only took Dallas five plays to get on the board when Alvin Harper beat Braxton on a 37 yard bomb to cut the lead to 10-7. Ten minutes later the Cowboys finished off an 11 play 85 yard drive when Aikman found Irvin in the end zone to give Dallas a 14-10 lead. The big play on the drive was an Aikman scramble for a first down 4th and 0 at their own 39.

Denver continued to show their ability to gamble when they once again went for it on 4th and 1 at the Cowboy 29. The Cowboy defense rose up and stopped Reggie Rivers just short of a first down and Dallas took over with 1:21 left in the first half. The Broncos running game struggled all day long as the Broncos gained only 74 yards on the ground in 21 carries despite the Cowboys dropping their linebackers into coverage looking for the pass. Moments later another long pass to Harper gave Dallas the ball at the eight with five seconds left in the half. Moments later Eddie Murray gave the Cowboys a 17-10 lead and significant momentum.

The start of the second half was not any better for the Cowboys than the first half. Another pass to Sharpe, this one for 45 yards gave the Broncos the ball at the Dallas 35. The Cowboys did not have answer for Sharpe who had a big day catching 6 passes for 130 yards and 1 TD.  Elway stayed hot and eight plays later the score was tied 17-17. Continuing with their gambling ways the Broncos made another gutsy call by attempting an onside kick. The Cowboys were completely fooled and Denver recovered at their own 45. It took only six plays for the Broncos to take a 24-17 lead on an Elway to Sharpe pass with 7:04 left in the 3rd quarter.

Dallas had been successful in the first half with long passes so the Broncos began playing their safeties deep. Dallas countered by running and throwing short hitch passes to Smith. It worked as Dallas drove 81 yards and tied the score on an 8 yard pass from Aikman to Irvin. The Playmaker had a fantastic day against Charles Dimry catching 10 passes for 150 yards and 2 TDs. The Broncos next drive stalled at the Cowboy 49 and once again the Cowboys had no trouble driving down the field on short passes and runs. Alvin Harper's second touchdown catch of the game gave Dallas a 31-24 lead with 9:17 left.

The Dallas defense once again stopped the Broncos and the Cowboy offense looked for another score to put the game out of reach. On first and 10 from their 16, Aikman hit Irvin over the middle and he shook off a tackle by Dimry and raced 38 yards to the Bronco 46. Three plays later, Aikman's pass to Johnston was tipped by Karl Mecklenberg and intercepted by Dennis Smith. The Broncos finally got their running game going against the Cowboy nickel picking up 34 yards on 5 plays. Two plays later Elway tied the score with 2:43 left on an 18 yard pass to Marshall.

Just as in last year's Super Bowl Dallas once again looked to Emmitt Smith in the fourth quarter. Smith gained four yards to the 37 before picking up 15 yards off tackle into Bronco territory as Dallas drove for a potential game winning score. Six more yard by Smith gave Dallas the ball at the 42 with 1:20 left. Another Aikman to Irvin pass put Dallas in field goal position at the Bronco 32 with 51 seconds left. The Cowboys went back to the ground and the Broncos could not stop Smith who plowed his way for 12 yards and a first down at the Bronco 20. One play later Smith raced through a big hole up the middle and carried Atwater with him into the end zone to give Dallas a 38-31 lead with 35 seconds left. Several plays later Jim Jeffcoat put the game on ice with a sack of Elway to give Dallas a 38-31 win.

Sixty-nine points were an ARAIG SB record as well as the Cowboys 534 total yards. The Broncos added 413 yards setting a combined record for 947 yards. Emmitt Smith rushed for over 200 yards in his second Super Bowl. Smith rushed up 204 yards on 31 carries and 1 TD.  The Broncos defense did not focus on stopping Smith and he made them pay. Troy Aikman after also had a stellar day completing 24-28 for 325 yards 4 TD and 2 INTs.  John Elway was 26-44 for 346 yards and 2 TDs. Dallas lost the turnover battle 4-0 but came through at the end to pull out the win. Congrats to Bill Schneider on a great season and an exciting Super Bowl.

The Chargers then scored the next 17 points to take a 24-21 lead. Jason Elam kicked a 49 yard field goal to tie the game in the 3rd.

In the 4th the Broncos strung together a 13 play, 65 yard drive, capped by an Elway touchdown pass to backup TE Reggie Johnson, to take a 31-24 lead. John Elway and the Broncos move on to the
AFC Conference title game.
John Elway threw for 2 touchdowns and Steve Atwater return an interception 47yds for a score to give Denver a 24-17 playoff win over the Houston Oilers.  Houston did not have an answer for Elway who completed 30 of 43 passes for 296yds and 2tds.  On the other side, Warren Moon threw 3 second half interceptions that all but sealed the Oiler's fate.  Houston did make it interesting by driving to the Denver 4 yardline with 0:45 sec. left to play, but they could not punch across the tying touchdown.  Denver advances to the AFC Championship game where they will meet San Diego who has beaten them in both previous meetings this season.

Green Bay Outlast Niners on the Frozen Tundra

Packers 37  San Francisco 17:

Brett Favre celebrates a 67-
yard TD strike to WR Sterling
Sharpe.
Green Bay, WI. - The Niners and Packers faced off on a cold snowy day at Lambeau field today in the second round of the NFC playoffs. After holding the Pack to three and out on their first possession, Young leads the Niners on a 74 yard 11 play drive to give San Francisco a 7-0 lead. After Brett Favre fumbles the snap on the first play of their next possession, SF turns it into three points for an early 10-0 lead. The play of the game may have been on 3rd and 3 from the Packer 15 when the Packers were waiting for Steve Young on a draw play up the middle.
Sterling Sharpe who had been a big play man all season puts the Packers on the board on a 67 yard pass from Brett Favre. Sharpe who caught the ball at the 40 broke a tackle and took the ball to the house to the delight of a sold out crowd at Lambeau Field.  When Jerry Rice fumbled three plays later and the Packers recovered at the Niner 25 the crowd erupted once more. Three plays later Edgar Bennent scored from 10 yards out to give the Pack a 14-10 lead. The Niners were clearly rattled as Dexter Carter fumbled the ensuing kickoff. Moments later Chris Jacke gave Green Bay a seven point lead.
The Niners got rolling again driving to the Packer 35 before facing a 4th and 5. Instead of opting for a field goal, the Niners went for it. Young's pass to Rickey Watters was complete but he was brought down by Johnny Holland short of the first down and Green Bay took over.  A 15 yard pass to Bennett was followed two plays later by a 32 yard pass from Favre to Sharpe giving the gave the Packers the ball deep in Niner territory. SF held and Chris Jacke added another field goal to give GB a 20-10 lead.
In the second half a Steve Young pass for Watters was picked off by Wayne Simmons who returned it to the Niner 38. Six plays later Bennett scored his second TD of the game to give the Pack a commanding 27-10 lead.  The Niners responded with a TD of their own to cut the score to 27-17 but their onside kick failed giving Green Bay the ball in San Francisco territory. Minutes later Chris Jacke added his third FG of the day to give the Packers a 30-17 lead. SF rallied once more but on 4th and goal from the 3, Young's pass to Waters fell incomplete.  Minutes later  Terrell Buckley, T-Buck to his teammates, intercepted a Young pass and dashed 64 yards down the sidelines into the end zone and into the stands for a 37-17 win. Buckley was so excited when he scored he kept running through the end zone and into the stands. The press was quick to jump on his actions calling it a Lambeau Leap.
The Niners outgained the Pack 350 yards to 257 but were minus three in turnovers and 4-7 on fourth down.
Green Bay faces the winner of the Cowboys and Giants game tomorrow.

Miami 6 @ San Diego 24

Two teams who didn't expect to be here clashed in San Diego.

San Diego started the scoring with a 9 yard TD pass from Stan Humphries to Anthony Miller.  The Dolphins pulled the game close on two field goals by Pete Stoyanovich.  John Carney was able to put a kick through with 31 seconds in the half to put SD up 10-7.  On the ensuing kickoff, OJ McDuffie fumbled the return giving the Chargers another scoring chance.  Humphries hit Nate Lewis for 20 yards to extend the lead to 17-7.

The second half was pretty quiet with the only scoring coming from another Humpries to Lewis TD.  The final score was 24-6.

Great season by Gary and the Dolphins.

Week 19: WILD CARD PLAYOFF Results

19  New Orleans 10 at San Francisco 18
The game was tight, as the Saints defense played stout most of the game. Good drives by Wade Wilson came close to scoring but were stymied by TO's or penalties. Jerry Rice proves to be a Titan among men in this one. Congrats to Keith White on making the playoffs and a fun season.

19 Buffalo 14 at   Denver  17
Denver won 17-14 over Buffalo in a thrilling first round matchup at Mile High stadium. This one was epic!

After a scoreless first quarter, the two teams traded touchdowns as Robert Delpino ran one in for Denver and Thurman Thomas duplicated the feat for Buffalo. In a harbinger of things to come, the Thomas touchdown was set up by a 46 yard bomb from Jim Kelly to Andre Reed. More on that later.

Denver put together an 11 play, 6+ minute drive in the 3rd quarter capped by Delpino's second touchdown to give Denver a 14-7 lead. The score remained there until late in the 4th quarter. Denver put together a 7:40 drive that finally stalled on Buffalo's 17 with a little over 2:00 left in the game. Denver lined up for what was likely to be the game deciding field goal, but incredibly holder Tommy Maddox couldn't handle the snap and Buffalo had a chance.

Buffalo mixed runs and a couple short passes to reach their own 44 yard line with only 23 seconds left. Buffalo switched to a 5 wr formation, Denver countered with a dime defense, and Kelly took the snap. Incredibly Copeland caught a 56 yard bomb from Kelly to tie the score.

Buffalo won the coin flip but their initial drive stalled in OT. Denver mixed short passes with Delpino and Rivers runs to advance to Buffalo's 9, when a Jason Elam 26-yard field goal won the game for Denver.

Thomas and Delpino both reached 100 yards. Pundits expecting an offensive show from the two explosive offenses were proven wrong, as the gritty battle evolved into a defensive struggle instead.

Great game called by Paul.

19  Los Angeles(A) 27 at Miami  35
The Raiders came into Joe Robbie Stadium and on their first possession went 43 yards in one play on a Hostetler to Jett 43 yard TD pass to take a 7-0 lead.

Miami answered with a 7 play 74 yard drive ending with a Mark Higgs 3 yard TD run to tie the game 7-7.

LA mounted a long 6+ minute 12 play 79 yard drive with Hoestetler hitting Horton on a 2 yd TD pass, however, Chuck Klingbeil blocked the PAT and the Raiders had a 13-7 lead, the missed PAT would loom large for LA.

After a Miami punt LA scored another TD on a Hoestetler to Steve Smith 6 yard scoring strike to give the Raiders a 20-7 advantage.

On the next drive Miami went 72 yards in 3:41 to cut the lead to 20-14 at the half.

Miami got their first lead in the 3rd on a Mitchell to Ingram 16 yard pass 21-20.

The Raiders regained the lead with 10:18 left in the 4th on another Hoestetler to Jett TD pass, this one a 66 yard bomb. 27-21

Miami responded with another Mitchell to Ingram TD pass to take a 28-27 lead.

After trading punts, LA took over on their own 6 with :59 remaining and down by 1. Bryan Cox sealed the victory with a pick-6 to give Miami the 35-27 victory.

Good hard fought game by RaiderBill!!!
