San Diego Opens With Win Over Rival Raiders

Stan Humphries
The San Diego Chargers spoil the Raiders' return to Oakland with a 30 to 13 drubbing. Stan Humphries was virtually unstoppable, going 19-27 for 233 yards, including 2 TDs., And while Natrone Means only ran for 56 yards total, he contributed to 4 first downs and his 26 carries helped the Chargers control the clock when they needed to. In addition, Coach Jim Upchurch's playcalling kept the Raiders defense on their heels the whole game.To the Raiders' credit, the defense did force 3 turnovers, including a  forced fumble by All-Pro nose tackle Chester McGlockton and a pick and a forced fumble by All-Pro cornerback Terry McDaniel. However, the Raider offense was unable to capitalize. Next week the Raiders will travel east to face the Redskins at Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium and the Chargers will host Rick Mirer and the Seattle Seahawks.
