Arizona 19 Washington 16

Cards 19   Redskins 16--    Rain soaked field in 87 degree temps  made  for an odd game.  Rookie coach Roman lead  his team to a 10-0 lead into the 2nd quarter before Cards struck back with a TD strike before the half for a 10-7 halftime Skins lead.  The biggest  play of the game for the Cards came midway through the 3rd quarter with an end around which  gained 36 yards and set up the 2nd TD for them. Washington stopped the Cards cold inside the 5 yard line and forced the Cards to settle for a FG and an 17-10 lead halfway through the 4th period. Coach Roman sent his team down the field and scorred a TD with less then 3 min. left making the score 17-16  going for the win Skins failed on a 2 point covertion  forcing a failed onside kick. The Cards could  not bleed the full clock down and had to punt away. The Skins moved the ball well but the clock ran out to end the rain fest!  All QBs played well as the Cards tried out two. Coach Roman  in a statement to the Washington Post said " those shovel passes by Arizona caused   more troubles for Washington then Bill Clinton and Richard Nixon  ever did  on their best days"
